We have acted as advisers on projects as diverse as negotiations for Nigeria's first independent power project, now being operated by AES, to the structuring of a $170 Million Bridge Finance Facility and a $395 Million Medium Term Syndicated Underwritten Note Issuance Facility for MTN Nigeria Telecommunications Limited; Nigeria's largest GSM operator. This debt financing, which was required to facilitate the roll out of MTNN's GSM network in Nigeria, is the largest non-natural resource project financing in Nigeria and in sub-Saharan Africa to date. The deal was named the Africa Telecomms Deal of the Year 2003.
We have also represented Nigeria's National Electric Power Authority in connection with negotiations for the establishment of several independent power projects and have also advised on financing options for establishing private refineries; the structuring of an International Debt Fund listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange; investments by an International Equity Fund; and the financing of various gas and power sector projects.
